You need to read, write, and comprehend English. The age requirements are 16 years for solo flights as a student pilot (14 for gliders) and 17 years for a private pilot certificate (16 for gliders). Additionally, you must possess a medical certificate.

To get a medical certificate, you’ll need an examination by an FAA-approved Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). The OAS team can help you locate an AME and advise on the most suitable medical type for your goals.

Ground School at OAS covers the classroom aspect of training. You can join in-person or virtually for 24 hours of interactive FAA instructor-led sessions. These sessions, filled with presentations and discussions, will equip you for the FAA knowledge test at the course’s conclusion. Plus, it’s an engaging and enjoyable learning experience!

After completing the ground school at OAS, you’ll be prepared for the FAA Knowledge Test, often referred to as the “written” exam. OAS students boast a 100% pass rate!

Flight training is your gateway to the skies. On your first flight, the instructor handles takeoff and landing, but you’ll get a chance to steer. As you advance, you’ll master essential skills, all culminating in the coveted pilot’s license. Every session enhances your confidence and expertise in the cockpit.

After passing the written test and logging the necessary flight hours, you’ll face your “final exam” known as the check ride. This consists of two parts with an FAA-approved examiner: an oral examination on topics ranging from aircraft systems to regulations, followed by a practical flight test to showcase your flying abilities.
